Since a Structural Report in 1999 suggested that our present St Hilda’s building has many problems – water ingress, cracking of floors and walls – we have been actively seeking a solution. The cost of repair would be so great that a decision was made by the Church Council that we look to re-build. Much hard work during the intervening years has resulted in a decision to sell surplus land and build a new church and community hub on the South East corner of our site. After a competition, Chance de Silva has been chosen as our firm of architects. Initial plans are being fine-tuned as the suggestions of parish members and advice from the Planning Design Team of Architects, Structural Engineers, Sustainability Engineer, Quantity Surveyor and Construction Design and Management Coordinator are being considered. We are also seeking opportunities to gain Grant Funding for the scheme. Please watch this space for further updates of this exciting project.
