Vicar’s Letter November 2016
In May, I chaired my first PCC in Kirkleatham and as part of that meeting, I took the opportunity to ask PCC members what their hopes for the future were. The answers included things such as greater numbers, more children and young people, opportunities to encourage each other’s spiritual growth, increased links with the community and opportunities to develop and challenge ourselves. Having been the vicar here for about 6 months, I have observed that same desires within both our congregations – these hopes are not simply held by PCC members.
If we take the time to consider our hopes for the future of our parish, we may be left wondering ‘how do we see these hopes become reality?’ In last month’s Parish News I mentioned a process that we will be using to help us think about our future and I feel that it is really important that everyone is given the opportunity to be part of this conversation. Our conversations together will be facilitated through a course called ‘Leading Your Church into Growth: Local’ that will take place in the Parish Hall.
To make sure that as many people as possible are given the opportunity to share their thoughts, each session of the course will be repeated – it will run on both a Tuesday at 7.30pm and a Thursday at 11am which will be followed by an optional lunch together. The course includes 6 sessions for the whole congregation to attend, with each session lasting approximately 1 ½ hours.
I hope that you will make it a priority to attend the following sessions in the Parish Hall:
Congregation Session 1
Tuesday 29th November 7.30pm or Thursday 1st December 11am
Congregation Session 2
Tuesday 6th December 7.30pm or Thursday 8th December 11am
Congregation Session 3
Tuesday 13th December 7.30pm or Thursday 15th December 11am
Congregation Session 4
Tuesday 10th January 7.30pm or Thursday 12th January 11am
Congregation Session 5
Tuesday 17th January 7.30pm or Thursday 19th January 11am
Congregation Session 6
Tuesday 24th January 7.30pm or Thursday 26th January 11am
Your experience of this parish is far greater than mine, and so I look forward to hearing what you have to say and where God might take us as we journey in faith together.
